What activities can you do at Coromandel ?

Coromandel is one of the popular travel destinations in North Island of New Zealand. There are varieties of activities to get fun at Coromandel. Here are the options that you can consider.


  1. Cathedral Cove and Dive


Situated at the Base of Cathedral Cove & only 5 minutes from Hot Water Beach, Hahei is the perfect spot to try the PADI Discover Scuba Dive -Dive Experience. Allow 3 hours for tuition and the boat Dive - participants must be able to swim well and be comfortable in deeper ocean water. Learn to PADI Scuba Dive at the stunning Marine Reserve, Coromandel Peninsula. Full training at our PADI Dive Centre. PADI eLearning available. With the Marine Reserve only 5-10 minutes boat ride, certified divers can book on our dive boat. Snorkelers are welcome on the boat trips, or call into our store in Hahei and grab your snorkel gear, before taking the 5-10 minute walk in.

   3. Cathedral Cove Kayak Tour

Our trips cover what we believe to be the most spectacular stretch of coast on the Coromandel Peninsula, if not New Zealand. Kayaking is backpacking on the sea.

   5. Whenuakura Island (Donut Island) Kayak Tour


Whenuakura Island, or Donut Island to the locals, is beginning to assume iconic status alongside other regional attractions in the Coromandel. A short paddle-board or kayak to Donut Island will be rewarded with scenes that inspire the imagination. A castaway or pirate would feel at home in the secluded serenity of Donut Island.

The Island lies approximately 600m off the coast of Whangamata in the Coromandel Peninsula in New Zealand, and this spectacular attraction features a secluded turquoise lagoon, surrounded by native fauna and volcanic cliff rock. The Island is rich in Māori history and is privately owned by local Iwi, who are the guardians of the Island.


   6. Hahei Explorer Cathedral Cove Boat Tour


Experience the adventure as we explore Cathedral Cove, the marine reserve & offshore islands along our magnificent volcanic coastline. See all the highlights in one hour including the remote coast with its spectacular sea caves, and when the tide is right we take you into the hidden underground blowhole. Marine life is all around & can be experienced up close because the boat is right in amongst the natural scenery. Watch gannets dive headlong into the sea. Penguins, seals & dolphins are a delight when they take time out of their busy schedules to visit us in the bay. We are licensed to view marine mammals.    7. Cave Cruzer Boat Tours


A photographers dream our open boat offers 360 degree unimpeded views & has access to smaller caves others don't. View sea life with purpose built all up front seating allowing everyone direct access to the see abundant sea life in the Marine Reserve. No roof means you can see out through the top of blowholes, inside caves & the majestic landscape. Check out the inside of Cooks Beach Blowhole then visit the Cathedral Cove along stunning coastline toward Hot Water Beach. Snorkelling is an option. Cave Cruzer holds a marine mammal watch permit & our schedule allows us to get closer for longer if seals, dolphin or orca are seen.
